  Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Sintra mountains to the south, the Demarcated Region of Colares is one of Portugal’s most unique wine regions. Characterized by its rare pre-phylloxera vines and sandy soils, it is home to exceptional grape varieties such as Ramisco and Malvasia de Colares, which thrive in these distinctive conditions.

  Established in 1931, the Colares Regional Winery is the oldest cooperative winery in Portugal. It brings together most of the producers from the Demarcated Region of Colares, playing a vital social and cultural role in preserving the region’s unique winemaking traditions.
